“It is horrific. ICE needs to be disbanded. People who work for ICE are untrained. And we want them out of Biddeford. Killing people in cold blood. They need to be out of Maine. They need to be out of the United States."
This morning, at the intersection of Hill Street and Pool Street in Biddeford, Maine, ICE killed again.
A witness reported seeing an unmarked Ford Explorer with flashing lights and two officers in green ICE vests. He heard four shots after agents surrounded a white sedan with weapons drawn. Project Relief, an immigrant rights and legal aid organization in Maine, confirmed that one of their community members was killed, a young person, they said, whose life was cut short.
Early accounts from a deleted-by-moderation Reddit thread describe ICE blocking the surrounding streets after the killing, restricting movement toward the scene and delaying the ambulance. This should sound familiar.
After the January shooting of Renée Good in Minneapolis, witnesses described ICE vehicles blocking the street, preventing ambulances from reaching her. A man who identified himself as a physician asked to check her pulse and was denied. An ICE officer told bystanders, "We have our own medics." Federal agents waited nearly three minutes to contact emergency services. When paramedics finally arrived, they had to come on foot. It had been more than ten minutes since the shooting before CPR was started. Renée Good was pronounced dead on arrival at Hennepin County Medical Center. The blocked street was a contributing factor in whether she lived or died.
This is a pattern, not a coincidence. The use of perimeter control to delay medical response is a documented tactic, practiced systematically in occupied Palestine, where the denial of ambulance access to the wounded has long served as a tool of lethal enforcement. We are watching it be imported here, applied to our streets, against our people.
Here in Florida, local police are formally deputized by ICE under the 287(g) program. Across the country, whether deputized or not, local law enforcement continues to cooperate with federal immigration operations. The coordination of a medical delay is entirely plausible. It is not paranoia to notice the pattern — it is the minimum required attention.
This morning's killing is at least the eleventh fatal shooting involving ICE or U.S. Border Patrol since the beginning of the second Trump administration, with the known deaths inside the concentration camp reaching into the hundreds. The regime is not hiding what it is doing. This is their "day of the rope" moment, inflicted on the working classes of this land, state-terror designed to send a message about who gets to live and who gets to bleed on the pavement while the ambulance waits.
If the regime wages war against us in our streets, the question becomes: who represents us?
If these people are not recognized as citizens of the regime's state, then they are citizens of this land. The war is being waged against all of us by the same extractive, war-worshipping capitalism that plunders this country and the people in it. The same logic that bombs abroad operates at home. It always has.
People in Biddeford held an emergency rally at noon today. A local resident stood outside the scene and said: “It is horrific. ICE needs to be disbanded. People who work for ICE are untrained. And we want them out of Biddeford. Killing people in cold blood. They need to be out of Maine. They need to be out of the United States."
She is right. And she is asking the same question we all are.
If the United States is waging war against us then who are we? We must organize with each other in order to find out.
