We're kicking off the Florida Boy Shit with some VINTAGE Purpp that I heard on SoundCloud over a decade ago.. and it shows how ahead of his time he was way back in the early-to-mid 2010s. He really took the best parts of Memphis rap and baked them in the Florida sun. "Who U Roll Wit" is a certified classic, no notes, no questions asked.
Also - XUM Studios released an physical edition of this track on a bootleg compilation of old SGP tracks on slime green tape. Unfortunately, it's long out-of-stock. 😿
Vibin In This Bih - Kodak Black ft. Gucci Mane
📺 YouTube // When you talk Florida rap, you gotta talk Kodak. This is my GUY. Everything that makes Kodak what he is (musically) feels like it's fully stirred into the pot here.. and the Gucci Mane feature? Cherry on top, forreal. I remember this blowing my mind back in 2016. This is one of my favorite tracks of Kodak's entire career!

📺 YouTube // This is more ATL than FL.. but I'm still counting it. This shit is just so FUN. It looks like they're having fun, WE'RE definitely having fun listening to it, goddamn. This is probably my favorite unreleased track from any of the XXL Class of 2016, which is saying something because that class was dripping with star power. I wish we got a full Carti/Uzi album during this era; it would've been so sick.
Whole Lot - LPB Poody
📺 YouTube // This is one of maybe three acceptable AI-assisted music videos out there.. a gator with the yop? A parrot smoking a ciggy on the golf course? We all wish we had as much swag as LPB Poody. He's probably my favorite FL rapper of the past couple years. Dude's got so much charisma and obvious love from his community, and he's just so goddamn funny.
Mutt That Bih - The Scythe (Denzel Curry, 1900Rugrat, and Key Nyata)
📺 YouTube // 💿 Bandcamp // Denzel pulls out his finest Kodak impression for the hook on this song, and I am all here for it. This shit is catchy, Florida-boy as-hell, and has a sick video. 1900Rugrat is one of the latest major label Southern rappers on the scene, albeit with some very hit or miss material, but his played up drawl fits perfectly on this track. Key Nyata leaves nothing on his plate by the end of it all. The music video is also hard as fuck.
